Street Art is the one thing you shouldn’t miss if you go to London these days. This phenomenon has become part of the city like Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. Especially the London-based street artist who is known under the name of Banksy has reached fame in the last few years. Despite his popularity Banksy decided not to reveal his real identity to the great public but he participated in a famous documentary on his work and street art in the USA called “Exit through the gift shop”.
Banksy’s work can be found all over the city, if you rent an apartment in London for your holiday you will surely find one of his paintings on a wall close to your place. People who are further interested in street art can even take part in a guided tour around town where the most interesting and controversial works of art are shown and explained.

Young London Subculture

Besides Berlin, London is one of the most important epicenters for modern art and underground culture in Europe. Especially the Tate Gallery of Modern Art that moved to the former Bankside Power Station in the year 2000. There are many available rooms situated close to this mecca of modern art on wimdu.

Especially the independent music scene is a complete success among young people all over Europe with one of its most flamboyant and simultaneously disreputable star being Pete Doherty. The annual pop music awards, the so-called Brit awards, that take place in London are regarded as an European equivalent to the American Grammys.
London attracts a lot of young tourists every year, who are fascinated by its unconventionality and its subculture.
